A lot of changes are on the way for the new Qashqai crossover. Nissan is going to introduce a new engine. Not only a conventional one but also a hybrid. According to rumors, the 2020 Nissan Qashqai Hybrid will be part of the next-gen vehicle. The IMQ concept is underpinning the hybrid version, while the base model will keep the same platform. The e-Power model will arrive in Europe during next year, and its US sibling, Rogue Sport will also get this kind of drivetrain.
So, the new 2020 Nissan Qashqai Hybrid will be the same as the standard model. That means a lot of changes. The redesign will bring the fresh look of this crossover. Fans will be happy to see new exterior and interior. But, what is more important, engineers are testing a hybrid setup. After 1.3-liter three-cylinder drivetrain, this is the next big upgrade for this lineup. The 2020 Qashqai Hybrid will also get a specific palette of colors.
2020 Nissan Qashqai Hybrid Release Date
The new crossover is coming next year. This redesign will bring numerous changes, and one of them is a hybrid engine based on IMQ architecture. Nevertheless, the debut is expected next season, but the model could appear as 2021 season vehicle. Nissan is still quiet about this one. We believe the popular European crossover will arrive in the first half in 2020. Rogue Sport, Qashqai’s rebadged version for the US market will probably debut at Detroit. The next NAIAS is going to be held in the summer of 2020.
Price
Until the 2020 Nissan Qashqai Hybrid debuts, we won’t have clues about its price. First, the Japanese carmaker will have to confirm drivetrains and then we can make predictions about the price. A hybrid setup will increase the MSRP of the Qashqai crossover. But, everything depends on the type of system this vehicle is about to get. If rumors about the mild-hybrid configuration come true, we can expect a boost of 2,000-5,000 €. The same will happen with the next Nissan Rogue Sport.
2020 Nissan Qashqai Hybrid Possible Engine and Specs
Only a couple of months ago we could see the debut of the IMQ concept. Experts immediately found a connection with this project and the 2020 Nissan Qashqai Hybrid. Not too much time later, Nissan Europe confirmed this crossover. But, without further details. At the presentation of the e-Power platform, we could see a 1.2-liter engine as the base of the hybrid setup. It generates power and powers the electric battery which cuts fuel economy and emissions. Now, the IMQ concept is using a 1.5-liter engine and two electric motors. This combo will be good for very high outputs. Some say the Qashqai Hybrid will be able to deliver 330 hp and over 700 Nm of torque.
The 2020 Nissan Qashqai Hybrid will get two batteries, one for each axle. That means we will have an AWD setup. Power router for the new model will be a CVT. Hill Start Assist, Cruise Control, Start/Stop system, and Electronic brake-force distribution will be standard.
2020 Nissan Qashqai Hybrid Redesign and Features
The 2020 Nissan Qashqai Hybrid will use the same shell as the standard model. Few visual details will send information this is a different version. However, no big differences will be available between hybrid and petrol version. On the other hand, we still don’t know how will Qashqai look like. The company confirmed the new generation, but that is all we know about this crossover. Furthermore, there are no spy photos to give us some clues.
But, our sources in the company are saying that engineers are working on aerodynamics. The new look will improve the airflow beneath and around the crossover. So, the 2020 Nissan Qashqai will also be more aggressive and attractive for younger buyers. New wheels will be there, starting with 16-inchers. Lights and bumpers will refresh the front fascia. The same is happening at the back of the Qashqai.
Interior
If the exterior is the same for standard and hybrid models, the cockpit will get some significant upgrades, especially the dashboard. Whatsoever, you will easily recognize the distinctive styling of the Japanese carmaker, no matter which model you choose. Cruise control and ABS are standard. Also, you are getting Bluetooth connectivity, no matter which trims level you choose. Six airbags are available for the base model, and upper versions will add more safety features. Start/stop system is going to be one of the notable additions for the 2020 Nissan Qashqai Hybrid.
Competition
The main rivals for the 2020 Nissan Qashqai Hybrid will be Toyota Rav4 Hybrid and Honda CR-V Hybrid, which arrives next season. Hyundai also plans to add such drivetrain for its Tucson. Kia Sportage, Ford Kuga, and VW Tiguan are more models that we need to pay attention to since their companies are among the leaders in the segment.
